In January of 1989, the band recorded its first-class honours degree demonstration tape, shortly playing on a TV evince called Plastic and participating in a competition sponsored by Yamaha, which offered them the chance to sign up to independent label Avispa and later to Area Creativa. In 1991, the mathematical group started operative with local label DRO, releasing Deltoya in 1992, with contributions from ex-Tequila Salvador Domínguez and Argentine Ariel Roth. Madonna happy to be "guinea pig" in adoption case

By James Mackenzie

CANNES, France (Reuters) - American singer Madonna said on
Thursday she was happy to be a "guinea pig" in a case she hopes
could ease adoptions from Malawi, where an AIDS epidemic has
orphaned more than 1 million children.

The southern African country's High Court is considering
whether Madonna can adopt an infant boy.

A report by Malawi's Human Rights Commission says the
adoption could be illegal because it does not conform with
international conventions and procedures under the country's
law.

Madonna, presenting a documentary on the plight of children
in Malawi at the Cannes film festival, said the controversy had
been difficult to deal with but she was happy to be involved in
a move that might allow more children to be adopted.

"Up until this time there wasn't an adoption law, so
consequently I'm sort of the template or the role model, so to
speak, for future adoptions," she told a news conference.

"Hopefully after we get through this adoption it will be
easier for other people to adopt children and I'm happy to be
the guinea pig," she said.

But critics say she has been allowed to get around laws
that prevent non-residents adopting children.

Madonna's film "I Am Because We Are" recounts the story
behind her efforts to adopt David, a boy whose mother died in
childbirth in Malawi, said she had tried to look at the
controversy in a positive light.

Alicia Keys - Keys I Want To Adopt Like Angelina Jolie

LATEST: ALICIA KEYS wants to follow in the footsteps of ANGELINA JOLIE and adopt a brood of multi-racial children.

The singer insists she loves kids and working alongside South African orphans in 2006 charity movie We Are Together made her broody to have children of her own.

But the 28-year-old insists motherhood is on the backburner for now, while she pursues her singing career.

Speaking to WENN at a special screening of the movie in New York City on Thursday (12Jun08) night, Keys said, "I've always loved kids. Kids are so important. It's important to nurture and spend time with them and listen to them.

"I'm not ready to be a mom. But (adoption) is something that is important to consider. That's what I really admire about Angelina. I think it's beautiful the way she embraces children of the world."

And she insists she would like to create a family of different cultures, like Jolie: "We are all one. We're not as separate as we oftentimes think. So I possibly would (adopt), when I'm more in the motherhood stage of my life."

Keys leads an intensely private personal life, but is rumoured to be dating and planning to marry record producer and business partner Kerry 'Krucial' Brothers.

Comedian George Carlin dies in Los Angeles at 71

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart problems, died at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

Known for his edgy, provocative material, Carlin achieved status as an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine about seven dirty words you could not say on television. A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of his "Filthy Words" routine ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court.
